Studies of Provence

The dirt in Provence is made up of all kinds of artifacts. I have always been a person who picks up beautiful garbage from the side of the road, so when studying in Lacoste, France, I developed quite a collection of pottery shards, iridescent glass, plant parts, and pigments.

Plaster is easy to acquire and to sculpt, so it is often used for sculpture studies. Using artifacts from each town I visited in Provence, I created these works to encapsulate the history and diverse landscapes of the area as well as an interpretation of my experiences there.
